How to Make a Board Game - Touring One of Europe's Largest Tabletop Game Manufacturers

In a quiet corner of Germany, our manufacturing team had the chance to dive deep into the world of board game production. Ludo Fact, a heavyweight in the industry, opened its doors to us, giving us a firsthand look at their operations and tabletop game manufacturing methods.

We're fascinated by the latest manufacturing techniques, so we seized the opportunity to explore Ludo Fact's facilities. Here's a snapshot of what we discovered during our visit:

Main Ludo Fact Factory: This is where the magic happens. Ludo Fact's primary factory handles the bulk of board game component printing and assembly. Watching the assembly line in action was a behind-the-scenes treat!

Ludo Packt Warehouse: This is where raw materials arrive before they're transformed into the board games we love. It's a hub of activity that bridges the gap between creation and distribution.

Höhn Facility: Specializing in card printing and PoS displays, this part of the operation caught our eye with its efficiency and attention to detail. IMG_20230822_104524

Friedmann Facility: Puzzles and digital printing come to life here. Customized solutions for smaller print runs or Kickstarter Stretch Goals come to life.

Eco-Friendly Alternatives:

Ludo Fact surprised us with their commitment to eco-friendly options. They're all about reducing waste. We were impressed by their paper booster packs, their box stickers designed to replace the plastic shrink-wraps, and the push for custom wooden components as a greener alternative to plastic miniatures.

Ludo Fact's Strengths and Considerations:

Known for premium quality and an eco-conscious approach, Ludo Fact shines in the realm of big print runs. Their European partners benefit from local production, cutting down on logistics and shipping time. They are also willing to develop specific manufacturing alternatives, offering their years of expertise. A tabletop game publisher with localised versions of their games can benefit from both, saving costs and time for both themselves and their partners.  IMG_20230822_103438

Our gratitude goes out to the Ludo Fact team for welcoming us and sharing their insights. Their hospitality made the experience all the more valuable!
